Lentils!

For all you health buffs out there, I present to you; the lentil. A natural source of protein, this sucker packs 26g of protein per 100g serving. These things are good to cook in soup or to have by itself with salt, pepper and a bit of butter.

Word of advice: best to soak these in water for 4-7 hours before cooking, If you don't, you'll most likely get some type of stomach problem. Good luck guys!

Windows Live Mail

Good work Microsoft, very impressed with Windows Live Mail. Not only is it an email interface for your hotmail accounts, but it can also do Gmail and other email websites including iiNet! How do I know this? I just added my iiNet email account into it and it works!

If you want to give it a try, you can download it from here:

100

Congratulations to us for over 100 page views! Although I think this has only increased because of our constant updating of the site recently. Either way, we have passed the 100 mark. It only took about 2 years or so.

There are only 3 stickers left on the back of my BB Curve

I'd take a photo of it with my BB but that's not physically possible.

Nokia E72 turns into a modem!

I recently bought a new Asus A42J laptop and thought to myself, 'How can I get internet if I took my laptop out and there were no wireless hot spots?" - then I looked at my Nokia E72 and the idea of using my mobile phone as a USB modem came to life. So here's how:

What you need:
  • Laptop with spare USB slots
  • Nokia E72
  • Data plan enabled on your Nokia hand held
  • Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite installed
For this instance, I have chosen to install Ovi Suite. Download and install Ovi Suite from here:

http://www.nokia.com.au/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite

After the installation completes, connect your Nokia E72 to your PC using the USB cable it came with. Open the Ovi Suite and select Tools and then Connect to Internet. An easy to follow wizard will pop up going through basic connection settings such as picking your phone provider. That's pretty much it. The Ovi application also shows you your connection duration information such as duration time and how much data you have downloaded - useful when you have a data limit towards your data plan.

Now you don't have to buy a Wireless USB dongle like this douche below - you owe me.

Do not install the Windows feature; 'Desktop Experience' on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. Kthanksbye!

After a pretty stressful week at work and clocking up 5 hours of overtime, I have learnt two things:
  • Back-up before performing server configuration changes - no matter how simple it is.
  • DO NOT INSTALL DESKTOP EXPERIENCE on Windows Server 2008.. it's a POS and it will fail and make your life miserable.
However, if you have tried and installed it and experiencing server reboots that result in the following error:

' Failure configuring windows features. Reverting changes' - followed by Windows automatically trying to re-install the service only for this to go on in an infinite loop;

This is how to fix it (well this worked for me):

NOTE: My server is a virtual server and the solution posted below is based on a virtual server environment.

  1. Do not remote desktop into the server, log in directly via your VI (Virtual Infrastructure) client.
  2. Login as the local administrator
  3. If UAC (User Access Control) is turned on, turn it off. This will require a server restart. So at this stage, the Desktop Experience feature has installed and is asking for a restart, and turning UAC off is also prompting for a server restart.
  4. Restart the server - watch Windows try and install Desktop Experience only for it to fail again. Windows will then revert the changes. At this point, do not do anything until you see the 'CTRL + ALT + DEL' prompt after Windows reverts the failed install.
  5. Login as the local administrator
TADAAAHHHH! Server Manager will load and will not try to install Desktop Experience again. Now should I buy the WD TV Live?

Epic Finals Clash: Roosters 19 Tigers 15

Saturday night, at the SFS, 6:30pm kick off - Tigers home game. What? Tigers home game? A bit weird considering the SFS is well known to be the Roosters'. Didn't matter last night though, The Roosters was able to come from behind to win in a massive thriller that took the game to extra time.

Two key moments which got the Roosters through in my opinion:

  • Anasta's field goal on the 80th minute which forced the game into extra time
  • Shaun Kenny-Dowall's intercept try which ended the game after 100min.
Honorable mention to Todd Carney's brilliance who had a hand in the 2 second half tries from the Roosters.

I have dedicated our new blog layout to the gutsy win the Roosters produced last night.

Nokia E72 Calendar issue

If you own a Nokia E72 and having problems deleting calendar entries from once having your calendar sync from an Exchange server - boy do I have a solution for you!

Note: no Nokia forums, Nokia support pages or Nokia support 'email your issue' feature helped me solve this quite simple fix. All you have to do is:

  1. Install Nokia PC Suite - my software version was 7.1.40.1
  2. Connect your phone via USB.
  3. Select the Calendar icon:

  4. Then select an entry, hit Delete and select the entire series or all occurrences - something along those lines..
Now watch as all your unwanted calendar entries vanish! It did for me. For those who have not found this very helpful tip - have fun finding this blog page - I tried Googling this page and gave up after not being on the first page of results.

P.S. may I remind you that I did solve this crap on my own. Go me.

Friday!

The day you painfully wait for on a Monday morning.

An update from my previous blog, BoB has been delivered, installed and working properly. Tested the wireless speed and it clocked to be 2.5MBps, will be testing the LAN speed tonight.

In other news, our dog had crapped in our bedroom during last night or earlier this morning. Lesson learned? Leave bedroom door open so the dog can poop outside in the poop/wee box in the laundry where we have trained her to go. It's not a good sight to see as soon as you wake up on a Friday morning.

On a rainy day..

Ikea shopping the night before lead me to 'build' my dining table, coffee table and mini table with my girlfriend. After living in my place for almost a month, I can comfortably say that my place is looking more like a home than it is a 'house' ehem I mean 'unit'.

The bad side? The mini table was bought for something that has yet to be arrived - my BoB. After applying for just under a month ago, last week I get emails regarding my Internet and VOIP now being active - except that my hardware will take a further 2-5 working days to beb delivered.

I'm so far behind Naruto and Bleach, but lucky my friend has been kind enough to provide me with weekly Entourage episodes.

I feel some what accomplished when eating free pizza on my new dining table; makes the half day or so working on Ikea stuff feel that much worth it.

Swine Flu

No I don't have it, but it's not hard to think that you do, with the amount of news we hear about it, and the reported deaths documented. Still, I was not fit enough to go to work today. After 4 days of feeling this tingling sensation get worse and worse on my throat, it took it's toll as I awoke this morning, feeling the phelgm build up, only increasing this annoying itch.

Good way to start things off in 2009 with a swine flu post.

Fail

I'm just going to list things that have been mad FAILS recently. Up to you on whether you agree or disagree.

  1. City Rail: no air-con trains, lateness, cancelled services, the service in general
  2. Sydney Buses: mainly the ones around the CBD and Alexandria, well mostly the ones around Alexandria. Sif make people wait half an hour for a bus that is half full. Made me go home 2 hours later.
  3. Old rude Asian women: these can be found within points 1 and 2 above. I find it so annoying how they don't care about anyone else but themselves - and looking annoying doesn't help the cause either. Always pushing in the lines so they can get a seat. AND it's always them! I feel for you white people, copping this.
  4. Horde: Failing in most BG's (Battlegrounds) these days is not on. Especially when I need 40 marks from a certain BG, come on guys!
  5. Vince: Buying the wrong PVP ring for his warrior speaks for itself. Nice work man haha.
  6. Help and Manual 4: This program is so sh!t. I do not recommend anyone / businesses to use this - pictures autosizing on it's own?
  7. Roosters: Self explanitory.
  8. West Tigers: Didn't even make it in the top 8.
  9. Walking to McDonalds in this heat: It's 35 degrees and I have no money, just an Eftpose card. Subway has no aircon - so Mcdonalds it is, a beautiful 15minute walk in this heat. I failed.

Traitor?

It seems we have a traitor among us. I don't wanna mention his name but i will lol. It was Fletcher. I was just conversing with him normally when all of a sudden he says something extremely uncalled for and offensive. I posted a screenshot I took and highlighted what he said for those who couldn't pick it up. Just click on the image below and you'll find out how much of a traitor he is. So from now on, if anyone sees fletch i want u to call him an Alli and tell him that Alli wear g-strings.

For the record. I was kinda giving him crap all day but that still wasn't an excuse for what he said.

"Car" used Tackle. It's not effective...

Indeed it wasn't. Botany Road was the place of the incident that had happened 2 weeks ago: Kevin and I were on the bus home from work one afternoon to find our bus stop at the red light, on the outside lane turning left.

We did not take notice of the white vehicle situated on the inner lane, also turning left, as it was a left turn only intersection.

However, the white vehicle made much noice as the lights went green, as it copped the left hand side of our sturdy bus. What went wrong? Here are the facts..

  1. Buses take up two lanes when turning at an intersection, like trucks. It is common sense to give way to them since they are big mother f*ckers that can ruin your car's life, and place a dent in your wallet.

  2. Asian drivers can be either or all of the following:
  • Impatient
  • Have the uber ability to make the stupidest decisions
  • less of an ability to see due to their smaller eyes
  • lack the common knowledge to know wtf to do when a bus is turning on the outside lane
Now, you can guess what race the driver was of the car that tried to tackle a bus right? That idiot also cost me and my friend to walk the rest of the way to the train station. Luckily, we were able to still catch the early train home, no epic mount required.

By the way, I managed to take a photo of the "car that tried" and will put it up when I get a chance. Let this be a warning to all; that cars just don't cut it when trying to pwn a bus - unless you are an impatient, stupid deciding blind, lack of knowledge f*cking blowjob asian guy who thinks he is the man.

50th Post!

Whooo! If this blog has achieved anything, it would be reaching it's 50th post, which is this one. And how lucky am I to make such an achievement on behalf of this blog site, my friends and family, and mostly, to anyone out there bored enough to be reading this.

Thanks for letting me waste about 30sec/a minutes worth (depending on how retardedly slow you read) of your time - it was very memorable.

Where is League going?

Never has so much happened in an NRL season that this year - well from my experience anyway.

What has happened? Quite a few things actually:

Salary cap taking its toll on players, with the big news of Sonny Bill Williams leaving his 4 or 5 year deal with the dogs. Off to France to play Union. More and more of league players are finding the big bucks attractive overseas, i.e. England and now France. I was on the Daily Telegraph today and read of Souths' Dean Withers going overseas too. Then there was the news of Gasnier leaving a while ago. And even the douche Paul Gallen commented that he would leave league for bigger money - way to make yourself a bigger douche mate - ruined Origin, might as well ruin your reputation as a player also, douche.

Solution?

Get rid of the damn salary cap - why does league need it? Soccer, Union, NFL, Basketball - all successful, profitable sports that I do believe do NOT have salary caps - sure teams would suffer in terms of the rich vs the poor - but so what - it will keep players in the game = a better game to watch = happier audience all around - why can't David Gallop see this?

Grapple tackles.

Although very alarming and dangerous to a player - grapples have somewhat been reduced after referees and players complaining about them, naming the Melbourne Storm as the main culprits. But as I read through the Daily Telegraph site, Melbourne are not the only ones. In fact, there is a list that shows the team that grapples the most. Souths were second with 19 offences with West Tigers being the first. Melbourne were ranked 4th. Ironic how Jason Taylor was having a sook about the way grapple tackling was being used, especially against his own men, when his damn team are one of the main offenders.

Misbehaving Players:

It's becoming more common seeing misbehaving NRL players being mentioned on the news, with the most recent Todd Carney urinating on some dude's head - nice. This issue doesn't really phase me however - sports people are people too - and what Todd did was pretty funny.

Footballers turn boxers?

Mason almost did, having a few fights lined up, but never actually happened. Anthony Mundine has started a fad - even though he switched to boxing ages ago - I read that he won again - can someone please beat him?

Souths not last.

Self explanatory - and I'm amazed just how good Craig Wing actually is - I think since he's come back he has scored a try in each game - Riley Brown needs to damage his other shoulder.

QLD winning Origin again.. not expanding on that.

There are probably more issues I haven't noted, these are the ones that are lingering in my head, feel free to comment on the ones that I missed.

SHIT - School Holidays!

Did not know it was today - maybe the fact that my sister was still at home, still sleeping, should have triggered my mind that it was now - school holidays time.

The train ride to work this morning was actually ok - until I got to Strathfield station. Remember, I still did not know it was school holidays, then, all of the sudden, 2 million kids got on my carriage - and not in uniform.

It was either kids jig school day or I was dreaming. Getting off the train was an adventure in itself - damn kids in the damn way - I just wanted to GTFO.

Soon as I came into work I checked good old Outlook calendar and walla - on my boss's calendar was the heading "School Holidays". Hopefully trains won't be as packed for the remaining 2 weeks.

Verification of "Sections"

Just to let everyone know, a new section has been added to the site called "Sections". This menu contains 3 new blog sites consisting of the following:

1) Chicks - ahh.. a site dedicated to our favourite hot chicks? Need I say more?

2) Games - this is where we give reviews / game discussions, even issues if need be.

3) Movies - movie reviews from us or any movie related information such as updates that we will share with you.

Each of the 3 contain the same "Sections" items excluding the page that you are currently on ofcourse - makes navigating through the pages alot easier.

We will still be using the main SHOTGUN NOT.. page to talk about any other categories that do not belong to the above 3.
